Katy Hogben, a consultant breast surgeon at Bupa Cromwell Hospital, was recently interviewed in a feature entitled ‘The Five Faces of Breast Cancer’ for Stylist magazine.
In the magazine article she discusses her role as a breast surgeon, the impact she has on patients’ lives and the various demands of her role.
Last year Ms Hogben operated on over 200 breast cancer patients, from mastectomies through to breast reconstruction. She also discusses how she has to manage people’s expectations and help them through a very emotionally difficult time.
Stylist magazine quotes Ms Hogben as saying, “I see it as a privilege to work on a woman’s body and help treat them. Being a woman means I have a natural empathy.”
