Practising at Bupa Cromwell Hospital
Bupa Cromwell Hospital considers applications from private and NHS consultants as well as allied health professionals, all referred to here as ‘practitioners’.
Practitioners may be introduced by colleagues (consultants and GPs) and can present as individuals or in order to support a team or develop a specialty. A group of practitioners may also apply for practice privileges as a business proposition with the aim of delivering a complete service for a particular specialty.
Applications are reviewed by the Practice Privileges Appointments Committee. Once reviewed, the practitioner would be asked to submit further documentation and complete a practice privileges application pack.
Practitioners wishing to apply for practice privileges must submit a recent Form 4 or appraisal, please see the check-list in the application pack for additional documentation. We also require the practitioner to give evidence of continued cover by a defence organisation and ongoing registration with the General Medical Council.
Once the completed application pack is received and reviewed, the practitioner may be invited for interviews. Final interviews would be with the Medical Director and Chief Executive at which point accreditation would be approved or denied.

Obtaining practice privileges
Once practice privileges have been given, practitioners who wish to use the facilities of the hospital on an ongoing basis must familiarise themselves with hospital policies, most specifically the Practice Privileges Policy document as well as our clinical governance policies. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and are committed to an extremely high standard of care.
