Bupa Cromwell Hospital has picked up the prize for ‘Best use of technology’ at the prestigious Laing and Buisson Independent Healthcare Awards.
The Independent Healthcare Awards 2011 recognise excellence across the independent healthcare sector, offering awards for a number of categories, including professional skills, leadership, and spirit of enterprise.
Bupa Cromwell Hospital’s Policy and Process Analyst, Kylie Hornby (pictured with Keith Nurcomb, MD o2 Health on the left, and Gyles Brandreth, journalist and presenter), was honoured with the ‘Best use of technology’ award, for the use of ‘Nervecentre’ software to improve the patient discharge process. This process can often be confusing, with frustrating delays between when the patient is declared clinically ready to go home, their actual departure and the room being ready for the next patient. At Bupa Cromwell Hospital, ‘Nervecentre’ software has been integrated with the bedside telephone system, to record specific points in the discharge process.
Bupa Cromwell Hospital has also been listed as one of the top 20 independent healthcare providers in the UK in the inaugural ‘Laing’s Healthcare 20’. A guide to the top players in the independent healthcare sector, ‘Laing’s Healthcare 20’ are decided by independent health analysts, assessing financial performance, strong staff relationships, and levels of innovation.
The hospital were also finalists in the Nursing Practice category and the Excellence in Training category.
