Benefits of paediatric general surgery at Bupa Cromwell Hospital
We offer a caring environment for children in a segregated high security facility, providing advanced clinical facilities for simple and complex medical and surgical procedures, as well as a wide range of supporting treatments and therapies.
We have some of the most advanced diagnostic facilities available, and our staff are specially trained to make young patients feel as comfortable and confident as possible.
The Starfish Ward for children includes 14 en-suite bedrooms as well as a day-care area and a playroom with lots of toys and activities. Our play specialist has many creative ways of preparing children for different procedures and encouraging them to talk about any concerns they may have.
The Rainbow operating theatre is directly attached to Starfish Ward so children don't have to come into contact with the main hospital. We find this makes children and their parents feel much less stressed. Parents accompany their child until the anaesthetic has been given and rejoin them in the recovery area.
All members of the paediatrics team, from surgeons and nurses to our diagnosticians, therapists and dietitians specialise in working with children only. Our paediatric nurses and play specialists are dedicated to looking after the emotional and physical needs of our young patients.
Conditions we treat
We treat a wide variety of general conditions both congenital and acquired. Some of these include:
Minimal-access surgery
The advent of minimal-access surgery for children allows us to offer a range of surgical procedures which have the potential advantages of improved aesthetic outcomes as well as shorter hospital stays and a faster post-operative recovery.
