There are a number of different types of surgery available all of which are performed by highly experienced specialists supported by dedicated bariatric nurses.
Gastric bypass
This operation makes your stomach smaller and shortens the length of the small intestine. It allows the food eaten to bypass most of your stomach and part of your small intestine. This means a person eats less and some of the food eaten won't be fully digested. Gastric by-pass surgery will involve a two night stay in hospital after the procedure.
"I have lost over 38 percent of my weight within the first six months. I have been given a new life and feel absolutely wonderful. I would recommend the surgery by Mr Ahmed wholeheartedly." - Gastric bypass patient
Gastric banding
An inflatable band is positioned around the top of the stomach. The band slows down the speed at which food moves into the stomach. This helps a person to feel full more quickly, encouraging them to reduce the amount they want to eat. Gastric band surgery can be performed as a day-case procedure or with an overnight stay.
"My waistline has gone done, my old clothes are very loose and I feel very lively compared to before. The treatment I got from Mr Ahmed and his team can't be matched by anyone. The only regret I have is that I should have had it done a long time ago." - Gastric band patient
Sleeve gastrectomy
This involves removing part of the stomach and making the remaining part into a long thin tube. This means a person will feel fuller sooner, and for longer. Sleeve gastrectomy surgery will involve a two-night stay in hospital after the procedure.
"This is a team of extremely professional doctors who are at the cutting-edge of weight-loss surgery." - Sleeve gastrectomy patient
