Dr Abrahamson specialises in all aspect of general paediatrics including common respiratory problems (chronic cough, asthma and wheezing), gastrointestinal problems (feeding difficulties, reflux, constipation and poor growth), skin rashes, all acute illness and infections, in addition minor trauma.He also performs all routine baby checks and immunisations if required. He has a holistic approach to paediatrics, and follow closely evidence based practice, and adhering to national guidelines where available. I have a natural bias away from giving unnecessary medications (e.g. antibiotics for minor viral infections) or performing investigations which have little expected benefit. However, he is passionate about ensuring all patients, including his own, are fully immunised. He is the safeguarding lead for paediatric emergency at Chelsea and Westminster. He is the Infection prevention and control lead for Chelsea and Westminster Trust hospitals, and has a particular interest in antibiotic stewardship.

Biography

Dr Ed Abrahamson is a general paediatrician, with many years experience. He also specialises in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, where he has been Head of the Paediatric Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital 1995-2015. He holds a Bronze Clinical Excellence award for his service to the NHS. He has written numerous papers, 2 books, and been a member of many National working groups, including the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. He is involved in post-graduate and undergraduate education (Imperial College). He was named as one of the top 100 children's doctors in Britain by The Times in December 2012. He is the Vice President of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust
