Biography

John qualified from the Royal Free Hospital and trained in ENT and Head and Neck and Plastic Surgery at Guys Hospital and the Royal Marsden. Since 1992, he has been a consultant Head and Neck and Thyroid surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University of Birmingham NHS Trust. He has published on all aspects of Head and Neck surgery; organised the Birmingham Head and Neck course for ten years, and is the Chief Editor of Stell and Maran. He is on the National Executive of the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons (BAETS) and is their President-Elect (2011-2013).  He was the President of BAHNO (2009-2011, President of BAETS (2011-2013) and was awarded a Hunterian Professorship for 2010/2011 from The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
