Professor Michael Douek is an oncoplastic breast surgeon with an interest in breast cancer surgery and breast reconstruction. 
He is professor of surgical oncology at King's College London and honorary consultant surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He was awarded a prestigious Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015.

Research interests

Professor Michael Douek has an interest in developing and evaluating novel techniques for cancer surgery. 
He is currently chief investigator of several international trials of a novel magnetic technique for sentinel node biopsy, which he developed (SentiMAG Multicentre Trial, MELAMAG and MagSNOLL). These trials recruited patients with breast cancer and melanoma from seven UK hospitals and from The Netherlands. He is also one of the pioneers of intra-operative radiotherapy for breast cancer and setup the first prospective trial of a biological device for breast implant reconstruction (POBRAD Trial of acellular dermal matrix for implant breast reconstruction).
