Biography

Mrs Badvie graduated from Guy's and St Thomas' medical school with honours, a national scholarship and six prizes in surgery and cancer research. Research in how polyps develop into bowel cancer led to her Master of Surgery degree. She undertook higher general and colorectal surgical training in London, gained JAG accreditation in endoscopy and colonoscopy, and trained in leading hospitals including St Mark's and Royal Marsden. In 2015, after 16 years working in the NHS, she changed her consultant post at Royal Free to a sessional role and now works predominantly in the private sector. She continues her teaching and surgical safety interests with Imperial College, leading the colorectal surgical skills programme.
