Organising payment


Helpful, knowledgeable financial administrators will assist you with preparing estimates, understanding the bill, verifying insurance or embassy coverage and collecting payments. 

Self-pay patients

Once your appointment has been confirmed, you will receive a letter outlining your appointment details and the estimated cost of your scheduled services. To guarantee your appointment(s), you will need to complete and sign a credit card authorisation form before you arrive. We cannot guarantee your appointments or arrange your visa letter without it. Alternatively, you may wire transfer funds to our bank account.

As a self-pay patient you may sometimes receive a separate invoice from both your consultant and anesthetist which must be paid separately. However, if you have deposited sufficient funds with the hospital, we will settle these accounts for you.

Insured patients

Bupa Cromwell Hospital works with many health insurance companies throughout the world. If you have insurance, please give your International Care Co-ordinator the policy details when you request an appointment.
When you come to the hospital you should bring with you the letter of authorisation from your insurance company. If you are being admitted as an urgent case a financial administrator will contact your insurance company to confirm your benefit eligibility and gain authorisation for your admission. If your insurance company is not recognised by Bupa Cromwell Hospital, you may have to pay yourself and then request payment back from your insurance company.

Please note that you will be responsible for any co-pay, deductible and/or co-insurance amounts, as well as the cost of services denied by the insurance company. Please also note that many international insurance companies require you to pay for outpatient treatment and then claim reimbursement directly from your insurer.

Embassy/company sponsored patients

If a third party if paying your account, you will need to provide us with a signed 'letter of guarantee'. To make sure that your treatment is not delayed, please forward this to us in advance or bring it with you. Please note we must receive a letter of guarantee from your embassy before your appointment date. With this guarantee you do not need to make an advance deposit on admission but, in the unlikely event that your sponsor doesn't pay the account or there is a shortfall, you will be responsible for any charges.

Ongoing financial estimates

If we need to schedule additional appointments during your visit, we will prepare a detailed and personalized cost estimate for you. We must receive the whole of the estimated cost before we can begin any services. Actual charges may sometimes vary significantly from the original estimate, but we will monitor your account closely throughout your stay and keep you informed.
Before you leave Bupa Cromwell Hospital a financial administrator will review with you all posted and estimated charges and payments. An additional deposit may be required at this time.
To ensure that your account is complete and accurate, you can expect a final statement of charges within 20 days. If you need a final statement sooner, please let your International Care Co-ordinator know so we can accommodate your special needs.
