For specific private treatments at Bupa Cromwell Hospital, you need to be referred to us by a health professional, for others, you can refer yourself. Check when you make your inpatient or outpatient appointment if you need to be referred by a health professional or GP surgery.
How you can be referred
Normally you will need to be referred by a General Practitioner, or GP, to a consultant at Bupa Cromwell Hospital who will then be responsible for your care and treatment.
I live in the UK and have a GP
Your GP will usually write a referral letter to the consultant or, for certain specialties, you may be able to self-refer to some of our consultants. If you do not have a referral from your GP practice, please check on the relevant speciality page or with the consultant’s secretary before you make a hospital appointment.
I live in the UK and do not have a GP
You can be referred by one of our private GPs at the hospital, or you can self-refer to one of our consultants. We offer a 'walk-in' private GP service which is available 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturdays.
I do not live in the UK
Our International Patient Centre coordinators will be pleased to help you or you can call our appointments team directly.
