Organising payment


Bupa Cromwell Hospital welcomes both insured and self-pay patients as well as company and embassy sponsored patients. 


For all patients

We ask all patients to provide a credit or debit card on arrival. This will only be used for payment of any outstanding charges, or for extra items such as magazines, newspapers, telephone calls or catering for relatives. You will also need to pay for any take-home medicines or supplies. For more information see our Credit / Debit Card leaflet or call our Business Office on the number below.


If you are covered by insurance

Bupa Cromwell Hospital has arrangements with most private medical insurance companies. Before you are admitted to the hospital, please contact your private healthcare provider and ask them to confirm they are authorising the treatment and the reference number.  If you are covered through your insurers for the treatment you require, you will then need to be referred to us by your GP.


If you are paying for your own treatment and consultations

Please contact the Business Office on 020 7460 5770 to make arrangements for payment and to make a deposit, if required. The office is open 9am-6.30pm Monday to Friday, and between 9am-1pm Saturdays. Please note that your consultant will invoice you separately for his or her services.


If you are sponsored by your company or an embassy

You will need to provide us with a signed 'letter of guarantee' from your sponsor.  Please send this to us before your arrival, or bring it with you. The letter of guarantee means you will not have to pay a deposit on admission. In the unlikely event that your sponsor does not pay the account, or there is a payment shortfall, you will be responsible for these charges.
