Your child as a day patient

We will have sent you a letter, telling you when your child's appointment is.

When you arrive, please report to the main reception. You’ll be directed to our child-friendly outpatients department, which has six consultation rooms, a treatment room and a separate play area.

During the appointment

Your paediatric consultant will discuss your child's symptoms with you. They will let you know whether your child needs further tests, and will take you through various treatment options.

If necessary, your child may be admitted to our ward on the same day as their consultation.

They will be looked after by a specialist nursing team, and our resident consultant paediatric intensive care specialist, who is on-site 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Going home

If your child has come in for a day case procedure, they will be carefully monitored by their consultant and nursing team. They will decide when your child is well enough to go home.

You are welcome to stay with your child throughout their procedure, or to visit our on-site cafe in the main hospital.
